Mom's voice can be heard from the kitchen sink where she is washing the dinner dishes. The child sits stooped over his plate, poking at his pile of vegetables as if it will help them disappear. There is no way around it---you must insert, chew & swallow to benefit from the vitamins & minerals these leafy greens offer. And it won't be evident upon consumption. It takes days and weeks and years of faithful vegetable popping to see any change. But over time it will pay off! Strength gained, health preserved, good sight, healthy heart, teeth & bones: there will be a difference. And so is God's Word. Though I don't always feel the little tidbits I bite off for the day are amounting to great spiritual victories, it is better than spiritual starvation. I know, it seems so basic. But it can be a daily struggle with the demands pulling strong and hard on us mothers. May duty rise over demand. May we keep Christ preeminent in our hearts so that we are prepared for the battle of the day.
~Don't fool yourself into thinking, "I'm doing ok. I don't really need that right now."
~If you don't feel like doing it, remind yourself of the long term benefit.
~Even if you feel like you didn't get much out of your Bible study time, remember God rewards faithfulness and you are establishing a pattern in your life and your childrens lives as well!
Psalm 143:8,10
"Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.
"Teach me to do thy will; for thou art God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness."
